Thicker viscosities make some filtration technologies such as wound cartridges useless as the pump has to work too hard to push the liquid through. This is where the term "void area" in a filter comes into play - the more void area (the space in between the fibers of a filter), the easier it is to flow thick solutions through.

Good choices include Parker's ProBond filter cartridge, bag filters, wedgewire screens, and strainers. Please consult with a H.C. Warner, Inc. is a long time representative of Velcon Filters of Colorado Springs. Velcon specializes in oil/fuel filtration and has state of the art equipment for drying out transformer oil. Dissolved water in transformer oil reduces the effectiveness of the oil to insulate the transformer. Excessive water can cause arching, which creates carbon particulate in the oil.

Water reduces the oil's dielectric strength, thus reducing the efficiency of the transformer.
Velcon's Superdri system removes dissolved water through a patented molecular sieve process, eliminating the need for heat or vacuum. Utilities operators and technicians prefer Velcon Superdri systems due to their ease of use and ultimate effectiveness.

H.C. These typically include a large stainless steel housing and filter cartridges that we developed specifically for this industry - the HFT series cartridge. Flows up to 2,000 GPM are not uncommon, and normally 5 micron retention filters are used. Brackish or seawater is filtered, then sent directly to the membranes for salt separation.
